You’re Not Perfect

Recently, I have discovered that trying to be perfect, for me, is simply a form of procrastination. You know that urge and desire of having to make sure everything is just right. So you wait. You wait again. Why? Because you have to get everything just right before you move forward. Or maybe it’s just fear. The next thing you know, time passes by and you have accomplished nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Persistently yours. Angie.

Amazingly synchronous coming upon this … I was just thinking about my own issues with that perfectionism thing. It’s about control, and I’ve been getting this “hint” via the Chariot card (blogged on it this morning) in the Tarot. So this is an awesome message to get in this moment–to push on without worrying about every “t” crossed and “i” dotted. Thank you so much for sharing, and thanks for following my blog :-)

I think a lot of us hide behind perfection. It’s so far less risky than failure. I’m trying to force myself to give into creative impulses – create it, edit it until it’s “good enough” and get it out there.

And … ohmigod you can sing. (I mean, sang.) :)

Thanks for stopping by on my blog and making me aware of your incredible voice and own blog. Good luck with your projects and singing, I’ll be following to see what you are up to (sorry, that sounds a bit threatening, doesn’t it? I meant it in the best possible way!).

Very interesting, Angela. I’m always trying to be perfect, in general, and as a photographer, and your thoughts make me reflect if it’s a form of procastination, or even a form of fear. I will do some deeper thought about it…
By the way, “New Man” is one of my favourite songs at all. I love the composition and your voice. It reminds me of a longplay of Marla Glen which I owned many years ago.

Ohhhhh procrastination! The mother of all evil haha (said with a little bit of sarcasm) but it is true. Just start I know when I started my business that is what I did wait for me to not be pregnant, wait for me not to be in an apt, wait for me to be done nursing, wait for….. etc etc. but it all boils down to put one foot in front of the other and do a little at a time. Main thing JUST START!! LOL I love the comment about the couch! That is classic and so sad for you :( she should have gotten those plastic blow up ones for temporary :)

You have just described the reason it took my mother 15 years to buy a couch for her living room. I remained bare of furniture all that time because my mom was looking for just the right one. I kept telling her that she should buy just a regular couch while she decided on the right couch, because by the time she found it, she would have already worn out the first one.
