If You Just keep believing

They say faith without works is dead. Yes. Ofcourse it is. But if you don’t keep believing, you will probably never act on those things that are good and true. You will probably never take the steps you need to progress. Perhaps because you just don’t believe there is any reason to keep going. If you just keep believing that there is a better way, if you keep believing that you have the strength to make it through rough times, if you believe that tomorrow will be better than today, then you just might do the works you need to do. Keep believing and go make it happen.

Are You Beautiful?

Angela Shella is a beautiful singer and educator. Beauty is more than great fashion and makeup. Beauty is about how you feel inside. It is about your style. Your confidence. Beauty is what people see when they look into your eyes and feel your positive energy. Are you beautiful? Wearing great clothes and make up can make you feel more positive and more confident and thus you become even more beautiful. So it isn’t about the hair, clothes or makeup, but it is about what your personality says to the world and what you believe about yourself. It’s about how you walk through this world with your head up because you feel great. A few years ago I wrote “pretty songs”, a collection of songs that made me feel beautiful inside. I suppose, then, we all have our ugly moments. I don’t fully understand how some of the most attractive and talented people in the world commit suicide. Feeling trapped and you feel there is no other way out. Marilyn Monroe surely had so much more to share with the world. Study the picture and tell me if Marilyn Monroe looks sad here. Be beautiful people.

Self-discipline @angieandthecool Network

Lately, I find myself asking for help and relying a bit too much on other people. After all, we all need each other, don’t we? But This morning I tell myself: It all boils down to self-discipline. Decide what you need to do. Acknowledge temptation. Just decide that you will resist it. Write the temptation down on a piece of paper. Ball it up and throw it away or burn it. Decide that today, your life is your own. No apologies. No excuses. No one to blame. No one to rely on. Today it is just you and yourself. Say that you are strong. List the actions you need to take. Take them. Just do it. Then get up tomorrow and do it again.

  Wise words indeed! I’m as stubborn as a mule and I really need to learn to discipline myself. For instance, earlier my beloved was napping on the sofa and I didn’t want to disturb him (I’m in bed recovering from a bad fall – sprained both feet and ankles and possibly broke a toe), so he awoke to find me downstairs, leaning on my stick and rummaging in the kitchen cupboards. I really shouldn’t have done that (ow) and must discipline some patience for healing into myself!

        Yes, I really miss swimming, which I did competitively for some years, and I used to love hitting the gym and reaching all the targets set for me (surpassing them if I could). I’ve always had very physical jobs too, and could never sit behind a desk all day.
        
        I’ve had to become used to a far more sedentary lifestyle since I became disabled, but I set myself other challenges; I learned to cross-stitch, I’m learning to play the ukulele, I’m determined to be able to get to the corner shop on my own two feet again one day and I’ve taken up pickling/canning as a hobby so that I still feel useful around the house.
        
        I always did play to win, and that includes teaching myself some discipline, because while stubborn is sometimes good it can also be harmful. Thank you for the timely reminder to take things easy

Dear Friends, It is important to remember your self worth. Love yourself. Stay away from negative people. They will try and pull you down. They may not even know that they are doing it because they have been negative for a long time. It feels natural to them. You have to surround yourself with people who are positive. People who inspire you. People who are hopeful about the future. Read positive books. Seek out positive relationships. This positive attitude will rub off on you. Listen to positive music, oh yeah.

  I really like this post, Angela, and it’s something I’ve recently discovered – how to seek out positive people. It changes everything. I’ve noticed how my thought patterns have changed by staying away from folks who want to dwell on the negative. Thank you for such great words.

    I find that many people struggle with this. If you find people that are positive, you have found precious gems. It’s a lot work trying to find them.

  True, but… I ashore you that there are times when all of us get negative. When it happens I sure hope my friends, true friends stay with me – and I call that life. But people who are all about negativity are something else. They need to want to change themselfs first with help from other than friends or collegues!

  Hi Angela. You are on the money. I worked with a fellow that I considered a friend. However he was always negative. He asked one day “How do you stay positive all the time?” I told him that I took a walk in the woods during lunch (instead of eating) and if he would join me I would answer his question about staying positive. By the time the walk was over I was exhausted and worn out by his negativity. He listed to nothing I offered. It was the last time we walked together but I was still friends with him hoping that he would get the idea. NO LUCK.
  We need to keep our own views and avoid the negative.

    Yes, something similar happened to me. Except, I found myself slipping into the negativism. I started complaining but I felt exhausted by it. I realized, I literally could not be around this person because they exhaust me.

Fire

Without creativity, I don’t think the world would be fit for anyone to live in. Creativity is like fire. That thing that inspires you in a nonstop, consistent, and persistent way. When it is in you, it burns. It spreads. You have to create when you feel the urge. If you don’t, it feels off balance. Unhealthy. Once you start, it catches on fire, again. Sometimes destroying old ideas in its path. I wrote a song the other day, just out of the blue. I felt a breeze come my way and I bet it came from God, something powerful, that’s for sure. It’s why I want to stay alive. What’s your fire?

  I love the analogy of a creative muse being a fire, because as you said, it can’t be stopped and can destroy old ideas to make way for new ones. In answer to your question my fire comes through when I’m skating, writing or taking pictures. I love it all!
